Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis
Candidates
The NCCR SPIN Internship Mobility Grants are aimed at Master’s students who wish to improve their scientific profile by carrying out their study project in a hosting team within the NCCR SPIN network while remaining enrolled at their home institution. They demonstrate excellence, potential and motivation to conduct their Master research or internship project in a laboratory of a principal investigator from NCCR SPIN
Their home institution can be in or outside of Switzerland.
The minimum stay is 3 weeks for a maximum of 9 months.
Candidates are expected to apply in preparation of their MSc thesis research or for a first year Master’s internship.
Award
If your home institution is in Switzerland:
800 CHF/month paid directly to the awardee for a stay up to 9 months.
If your home institution is outside of Switzerland:
1’200 CHF/month up to 9 months, paid directly to the awardee
Up to 2’000 CHF of travel costs (one round trip, economy fare) reimbursed
Application procedure
Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis
Applications are to be submitted to Maria.longobardi@unibas.ch
Required documents:
CV (curriculum vitae)
Motivation letter including research goals
Letter of acceptance from the host SPIN team (Consult the list of laboratories below to determine which groups interests you, and contact the associated principle investigator directly to discuss your potential research project)
1-2 recommendation letters
Copy of your University degree(s) / transcripts from all grades
All documents should be in English. Diplomas in French, German or Italian will be accepted, too.
Selection
Selection is made on a competitive and rolling basis. The selected candidates are asked to confirm their venue within 2 weeks. Otherwise, the award may be attributed to another candidate.
Selected candidates are asked to start their stay in the host team at the NCCR SPIN within 6 months after confirmation of receiving the grant.
Payment of the award money is subject to the ongoing activity of the research project.
The funding will be prorated according to the length of the stay.
Travel costs of the awardee for typically one round trip (economy fare) to the home institution will be covered by NCCR SPIN (up to 2’000 CHF).
Accommodation, visa and other fees, etc. are to be paid by the awardee.
The award is granted only to selected applicants who have completed enrolment at their home university.
