Maria Longobardi elected American Physical Society Fellow for 2022
We are very pleased to announce that NCCR SPIN’s scientific coordinator, Maria Longobardi, was named fellow of the American Physical Society for 2022.
The APS Fellowship Program recognizes outstanding individuals in the physics community who have contributed to advances in physics through original research, innovative applications, teaching, and leadership. Maria Longobardi was awarded this special recognition “for the support and promotion of early-career scientists and international relationships through unflagging efforts to bring people together and publicize high-quality research from all corners of the world.“ Since 2012, Maria has served the American Physical Society (APS) in different leadership roles. In 2016, she founded and led the Forum on Early Career Scientists (FECS) at the APS, becoming one of the largest APS units in a few years. Currently, Maria is serving the APS in the Committee for Informing the Public, the March Meeting Taskforce, and is the Chair-Elect of the Topical Group on Data Science. We are extremely proud of her vision and commitment to advance and diffuse high-quality research by spurring young talent and fostering and solidifying meaningful cooperation and congratulate her on this remarkable achievement.
